How’s it going, folks? I’m Wil Brendel, your Ability Editor. Born and raised in southeastern Michigan and currently residing in the Chicago 'burbs, I’ve been an art nerd my entire 24 years, and a gamer since my fourth Christmas where I received the original Nintendo Entertainment System. Then in 1998, a certain blue cartridge featuring a cannon-toting turtle found its way into my Game Boy and the rest is history.
A graduate of the Art Institutes, I’m currently working on building a career as a professional comic book illustrator. I’m a co-founder of an independent comic book company called Lonely Robot Comics, where I work on an ongoing title called The Redeemers. Apart from other freelance work, I post my own comic strips at my personal site, Where There’s A Wil Productions, and I've previously completed a fan-made graphic novel about Sonic the Hedgehog for Fireball20XL.com. I also work a part time job about 30 hours a week because being a starving artist is no fun.
Apart from my artwork, I’m a pretty big gamer, and Pokemon is easily my favorite franchise. I dig on Mario, Smash Brothers, Zelda, Assassin’s Creed, Rock Band, and Sonic, too. I also love movies (usually comedy and action flicks) and collect movie posters, as well as comic books (currently reading IDW's new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as well as Batman Beyond and Darkwing Duck.
That’s pretty much me to my nerdy, nougat-filled core. If you’re clamoring to know more, check me out at DeviantArt, SheezyArt, Twitter, Tumblr, and my personal site.
