Pokémon: Story Version, Chapters 3 & 4

Chapter 3:

-Rocket

It had been two days since we saw the Sneasel. The sun was high up in the sky by this point as we entered Violet City. Still following its footprints and tree markings, it looked like it was headed towards the local Pokemart. Probably to scavenge for food.

Pokézoology: Behind the Makeup

In an attempt to face that which terrifies me the most, I’ve decided to focus this article on Mr. Mime and it’s prevolution, Mime Jr. Stand kindly by my side, dear reader, and perhaps we can make our way through this nightmare sandwich together. That, or we’ll both be driven mad; either way, at least we’ll have company.

The Mimes:

Evolution is the Universe's biggest crapshoot. It takes millennia for a creature to grow and develop and become the things we see every day... but the Mime family throws this supposition in the face of everything we think we know about evolution. Look at them: they're clowns. How does something come about naturally that looks like an artificial idea that has been created (in the grand scheme of the history of the Universe) relatively recently?

Let's try and figure that out. But first, a little exposition...

A Rare Breed

Fire Pokemon have been around since the beginning. They are strong, versatile, and fast. Trainers around the globe have watched their Charizard rein fire down from the sky, Infernape get up close and personal, and their Heatran just take countless hits while dishing out pain. There are quite a few options available to a trainer looking to 'burninate the countryside." One in particular stands out to me. Man's Best Friend, Arcanine.

HP: 90

Attack: 110

Defense: 80

Special Attack: 100

Special Defense: 80

Speed: 95

Total: 555

A  555 base total is pretty awesome.  Arcanine's attack and special attack are both impressive.  It has great speed and can take a few hits, even from super effective attacks.  As with most Pokemon, being one type  is a blessing and a curse.  Thankfully, we have many options that can help a trainer get max value out of his fiery puppy.

Pokémon: Story Version, Chapters 1 & 2

Chapter 1:

"Benjamin! Wake up; it’s two in the afternoon!" My eyes shot open as my grandmother repeatedly slammed on the door.

"Benjamin! Wake up before I get a bucket of water to wake you up!" She screamed from beyond the door of my attic room.

"Don't bother! I'm up" I yelled back "the door's locked anyways" I muttered under my breath as I rubbed my eyes and began to stretch.

"I heard that! And don't you think I thought to bring the key", she yelled again from beyond the door.

There's No "I" in Team

Have you ever been swept by a Reuniclus because five of your Pokémon were weak to Psychic?  Have you ever been walled to death by a Blissey because you didn’t carry any physical attacks?  Have you ever been eaten alive by a Salamence because you didn’t have anything to take it down? Well I’m here to talk to you about some simple changes that you can make to your team in order to prevent these embarrassing things from happening.  Of course you can’t start until you have an open mind; so drop your ego and admit that your team is not perfect, because nobody’s team is.

The Forgotten Dragon

Dragons. These majestic creatures have been a major part of the fantasy genre for many years.  They are known for their terrifying bulk and incredible power.  Dragon type Pokemon are no different.  Pokemon like Garchomp and Salamence immediately jump out at you as a threat that needs to be dealt with,as they have been known to sweep entire teams by themselves.  There is one dragon Pokemon, however, that most trainers seem to overlook. Kingdra.

*Sad kids sitting at table

Announcer:     “What’s wrong, kids?”

Timmy:            “I’m just so tired of using the same old moves. Flamethrower. Rock Slide. Surf. They’re just so boring.”

Announcer:     “Well, Timmy, it sounds like you need Weather Ball.”

Kids:               “Weather Ball???”

Announcer:     “Yes, kids, Weather Ball!”

*Cue Super Fun Music

Announcer:     “It’s the special move that lets you attack in 5 different ways! Just add water, sun, hail, or sand and watch your attack change before your eyes!”

Timmy:            “Wow, thanks Weather Ball! Now I’ve got the power I need to succeed!”

Announcer:     “Weather Ball, from GameFreak! Available at a Poké Mart near you.
